HANMER SPRINGS

Horse Float Parking

If you are coming in to Hanmer Springs for the day, horse floats can be parked at the Lucas Lane Arena or on the Jollies Pass Road main entrance.

Skills Park

Our Skills Park has obstacles for you and your horse to improve your back country riding skills including a bridge, boardwalk and tyre climb. It is located beside the Chatterton Track which runs from Woodbank Road north to the Rogerson Track entrance (where there is parking), just off Jacks Pass Road.

Local Riding

As well as the attractions of riding in the High Country, there’s loads of great riding in the Hanmer Basin itself. Check out the routes here. https://hanmerspringshorseriders.org.nz/riding-in-the-hanmer-basin/

Veterinary Services

There are no vets in Hanmer Springs. The nearest veterinary services are based in Culverden, about 35 mins drive from Hanmer Springs:  North Canterbury Veterinary Services, 26 Mouse Point Road, Culverden. 03 315 8363.

Après-Saddle

The best part about coming to ride in Hanmer Springs is of course the hot pools! Excellent for soaking those muscles after a long day in the saddle: Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools and Spa. There are also other attractions for group members who are not riders including walking and biking trails: see here.

The town has a large number of restaurants, cafes (see here) and the local well-stocked Four Square for self-catering. A personal favourite is The Powerhouse Cafe.
